The Aurora Public Library must remain a venue for open inquiry and intellectual stimulation for all people.
Libraries are not just buildings that have books.
Libraries are depositories of the stories of our city, our state, our nation and indeed our world.
Libraries are the launching pad for the imagination to explore,
Libraries are centers for deep research.
Libraries are a place where you should have the freedom to investigate any question.
Libraries are a place where sources and media forms and programs are free.
Libraries are a community space that is open to everyone
Libraries offer a space to address a wide range of topics so as to stimulate intellectual curiosity.
It is not the place of the library to tell you what you cannot read.
It is not a place to create silence about the past, or the present.
Aurora Public Library Must Remain on the Cutting Edge of Technology While Still Preserving Books.
We cannot lose sight of the core of the library's holdings- books.
We must support the library in maintaining and perhaps expanding it's physical holdings of books.
While staying abreast of technologies like audio books, brail and different visual/multi-media formats.
Expanded all form of holding creates opportunities to expand our ability to serve the community.
We Must Discover New Ways to Enhance and Expand the Aurora Public Library as a community hub.
Our Library is not only a depository of information for the community... Our Library must be a place for gathering, it should be the central hub for the community.
Our Library must be a welcoming place for every member of the community.
Our Library should be a place to host your organization's meetings, or groups and activities that celebrate the diversity and humanity of Aurora.
Our library should be a place where, all people from the community can access the library's resources while being provided a welcoming gathering space for various groups and events.
In other words, the library should be a critical cultural hub in the community where we celebrate all the
various visions of humanity that make up the Aurora Public Library District and make for a wonderful
joining of cultures, races, genders, languages and beliefs. When there are important historical and
cultural markers on the calendar..... our library should be the first community hub we think about.
Everyday, We Should Be Asking Ourselves, Our Families and Our Friends:
What is going on at our library, today?
What special events and celebrations are happening at our library, today?
What new thing can I learn at our library today?
